Omega Fenix - Flash Based Shmup

Senor Robot Studios has released a playable demo of a pretty snazzy shmup called Omega Fenix. It's basically a top down shooter with some impressive animation and gameplay (it's hard!)

Trippy New Indie Game: Blumenmacht

From the IndieGamer post:Blumenmacht is a unique mixture of shoot'em up and memory gameplay. The nonviolent game comes with a colourful flower power theme and is controlled only with the mouse. You can play nine levels on three different difficulty settings

From my perspective this game has a bright future as a potential handheld game...

Sword Magic KungFu update

It's funny that you are here, checking out this little mini game before the rest of the world. Who knows, perhaps it will have some degree of popularity...

Today was a big day for SMKF because I converted the flash over to using SWFObject from deconstruct. Why is that in any way cool? Well now I can pass messages from html to the laszlo flash object! This is critical in bridging the gap between the yahoo im plugin world on the page, and the flash object. If you want to test things out - get a game started and click on attack. You'll see its your choice vs magic. If you click on "monkey attack!" in the HTML it will change your opponent's attack to "monkey" attack - and when you attack again you'll see your opponent trying the monkey attack.

Perhaps this is boring, but I'm bridging so many worlds here Laszlo -->HTML -->YAHOO IM -- probably never done before but the internet is great about linking things together.

Update: I got it working in my test environment in Yahoo IM! Sooo cool. All I have to do now is start hooking up the events and get the message passing working properly. I may need beta testers soon...

The Age of The Dinosaurs

From Andrew Chen comes a reference to a series of slides by Ralph Koster about problems that face "hit driven" media. Great read for game developers...
