Back from the grill-out

Well, it's been and interesting day. I drove over to Marc Canter's abode after getting an invite last week. Marc, his wife, and kids are all charming and very cool people. I spent some time talking with various folks who made up the panoply of guests, and managed to hide the potato salad I'd brought :)

I'm starting a new job next week at 1up.com. I'm very excited and hope to use this as a way to turn around my life in some ways. I have always wanted to get into a fiel related to gaming, while still using my web skills. It's not often that you find your "dream job" I'm getting prepared to do some hard work to make this site not only outstanding, but "insanely great".

Later on I took the wife and kids to see Shrek 2 for the 2nd time. I must say I enjoyed it more than the first time, and I found myself looking in the backgrounds and scenery for hidden items. If you havent seen Shrek 2, I highly recommend it.

Round trip to New Zealand - oh my?

Looks like making a round trip to New Zealand is not that expensive any more. I really want to go! Found this from Marc Canter's site.

Lots of cool stuff happening

Lots of cool stuff happening behind the scenes. I'll let you in on more as I can. If things go well, I'll be having really awesome things to demo here. Basically I'm leaving my old job, which basically ate up all of my free time, and now I'm going to finally be doing the stuff I've always wanted to do. Working on flash, dhtml, gaming, and other great things.

Just back from nextfest

Hello, I just got back from Wired's "Nextfest"... It was sorta ok. There were some good exhibits like the mars rover, the big globe, and a few other things. It was very crowded however, and having the main stage curtained off was a real downer. I mean I payed to get in to see Asimo, but when we got there the curtains were closed and all that was there was a little tv set showing what was happening. Ah well. It was nice to be out in the city on a beautiful day.
